Selena explained to both of them that she didn’t keep in touch because she “felt ashamed of the decisions that I made.”
“I didn’t want you guys to see me in the state that I was in, because A, you would have told me the truth, which terrifies me, and B, I didn’t want to let you down,” she said.
Her response had both Jennifer and David appreciated her candid answer.
“That’s really sweet, and thank you for saying that,” David, who played her on-screen dad, said. “Obviously I miss you.”
Jennifer, who played her BFF Harper Finkle, then told Selena she’s thought a lot about why they hadn’t kept in touch over the years.
As for Jennifer, she appreciates Selena opening up about that point in time, noting that she’s often thought about the shift in communication.
“I appreciate you saying that too, because to be perfectly blunt, there has been times where I’m like, ‘Did we stop being friends because I didn’t tell her what she wanted to hear?’” Jennifer shared. “You know what I mean? So, I appreciate you being that honest.”
Selena went on, saying that she does “appreciate you guys dearly. I love you so much in a way that I’ve never loved anybody else.”
“I think I felt safe and that’s a really hard thing for me to feel,” she shared. “I know you guys love me for me. … You guys genuinely loved me, and that’s all I could have asked for. The unconditional trust and bond we had, I miss [it] so much.”
The one co-star Selena remained in touch with the most was David Henrie, her on-screen brother.
