Selena Gomez went live on TikTok to react to criticisms of her body
The 30-year-old Only Murders in the Building actress was shamed for her body after an appearance at the 2023 Golden Globes earlier this year. She took to social media that day to laugh off the hateful comments.
However, she shared a more in-depth reaction while live on the social media platform on Thursday (February 16).

Selena explained that she will “hold a lot of water weight” when she is on medication for her lupus. “When I’m off of it, I tend to kind of lose weight,” she continued.
“So, yeah, not a model, never will be,” she said. “And I think they’re awesome, mind you, I just, I’m definitely not that.”
She also used the opportunity to stress the importance of self love to her followers.
“I just wanted to say and encourage anyone out there who feels any sort of shame for exactly what they’re going through and nobody knows the real story. I just want people to know that you’re beautiful and you’re wonderful,” Selena said. “And yeah, we have days where maybe we feel like s-it. But I would much rather be healthy and take care of myself. My medications are important, and I believe they are what helps me.”
The actress and pop star shared love with her fans. She had a different message for the haters: “Go away.”
“‘Cause honestly, I don’t believe in shaming people for body or anything,” she said.
